Ideological and political education has strong political characteristics，and itscontent is determined by the ideology of country, also it reflects the political policy ofcountry. Ideological and political education is not only restricted by political thoughtsof the ruling class, it also gives expression to the political characteristics given bynational ideology. Stabilization is basic to protect benefit of a country, and at the sametime regime stability is the key of safeguarding national stability. Protecting nationalstability is significant to every country. It needs kinds of instrument to sustain thestability, especially the order and authority of a country, furthermore, ideological andpolitical education represented national ideology could establish the authority figure.In the historical development of the ideological and political education, whether themanifestation of national policy is guidance through advocacy or teaching ideas inclasses, ideological and political education moralizes and infuses a country’s politicalideology and political values. Not only can it protects regime and stability, but alsodevelops and promotes national interests and social interests. In the form of educationto make people obey the command of the national ideology, ideological and politicaleducation actually can achieve the effect of the protection regime stability throughsafeguarding the national interest. In any case, ideological and political education hasthe function to be the instrument for serving governing class, and it has efficiency tobe the instrument for stable operation regime.My paper explores the instrument of ideological and political education toanalysis deeply how it becomes the instrument of protecting national regime, and thepaper defines the instrumentalism of ideological and political education. The first partof my paper is introduction that illustrates the research significance and innovation ofthe paper; he second part defines the conception of the instrument of ideological andpolitical education from analyzing the background, source of theory, and thephilosophical foundation; the third part states the two structures of theinstrumentalism of ideological and political education: in broad sense nation as the subject of ideological and political education; in narrow sense teachers as the subject.And the forth part discusses ideological and political education as an instrument forprotecting national regime has four political functions helping people establishpolitical values consistently with national ideology, spreading the country’s politicalculture, resisting other ideological infiltration, promoting the development of nationalpolitics.
