A Research On The Old-age Expectation Of The Rural Empty Nest Elderly And The Mechanism Of Government Supporting

As the extent of our country’s aging population gradually deepens, the process of urbanization, industrialization and modernization continues to boost. Under the national condition of getting old before getting rich, the crisis of empty nest has already been one of the most awkward issues during China’s social transformation. The population of empty nest elderly continues to increase sharply, leading to the change of supply and demand of the whole social resources. Comparing to the rural areas, the city is more developed in all perspectives. The empty nest elderly in rural area become more disadvantaged group. They urgently need the focus and support from the government as well as all society. What expectation do they have for future retiring life? What supportive policy should the government formulate in order to guide and implement the rational expectation of the empty nest elderly in rural area, improving their condition, enhancing the level of retiring life? It has become our country’s major livelihood issue, which currently needs to be dealt with.This thesis will base on rational choice theory, social welfare theory and demand theory,base on the sample of 42 empty nest elderly from the village A, the city of Fuzhou,the province of Jiangxi, applying the literature research method, case study method as well as systematic analysis method, hoping that by investigating the expectation of retiring life of empty nest elderly to illustrate the current contradiction of retiring life’s supply and demand in our country.This thesis consists of five parts. Its structure is as follows:The first part introduces the research background and its theoretical and practical value and gives a brief overview of the status quo of relevant research at home and abroad.The second part defines some concepts interrelated, and elaborates the theories which have used in the thesis.Based on the analysis of the data collected, and pick the typical example to elaborate and analyze, the third part discusses the current situation and the old-age expectation of the rural empty nest elderly by elaborating the sample of 42 empty nest elderly from the village A, the city of Fuzhou, the province of Jiangxi. Sums up the findings of survey,considering our national condition, to give the complete statement and analysis of the cause of the expectation.The fifth part comes up with five government supporting policies to establish the complete government supporting mechanism to realize the old-age expectation of the rural empty nest.
