A Study On The Social Support Network For Sanitation-men Of Main Road In Cangshan District, Fuzhou City

As an interaction between people and people, social support is easy to find out in the real life. Studies about social support network have been drawing more and more attention. Using the network, individuals can get the resources and supports to solve the problems in life, improving adaptability to the environment. There are a big amount of sanitation-men in cities facing different kinds of living and working problems-say, scattered family members, lacking close friends, low self-identity, misunderstanding and bad attitude from the society, and little attention from the governments and employers-which lead to the limited functioning of social support network for sanitation-men. Conversely, this kind of improper functioning increases the difficulty to solve the problems.This paper reviews the research findings about social support network, vulnerable groups and sanitation-men, and the related theories of social support network. Then, based on the questionnaires and interviews from sanitation-men that show the current situation of social support network for sanitation-men-small scale and lacking structural diversity, the paper analyses the reasons for weak social support network. Furthermore, taking the advantages of social work and the multiple characters of social worker, it would be beneficial to make a better social support network. Finally, using the intervention strategies and traditional social work methods of case work, team work and community work, this paper will help sanitation-men build a really effective social support network, improving their problem solving abilities.
