The Honor System of China has a long history. After New China was founded, a series of incentive policies were inextricably linked with the tradition of our country’s Honor System. The Honor System has value-oriented function, educational and demonstration function, strengthen-ing and driving function, highlighting the fair function. It conforms to the needs of human and society, so it has important individual and social values. The Honor System is consistent with the Ideological and Political Education, and they are similar in contents, functions, and methods. In practice, in the course of its development, the Honor System shows its huge advantages in shaping people, inspiring people, motivating people and so on.Otherwise, in practice, it promotes the development of ideological and political works further for the extensive use of the Honor System. Therefore, it has an important theoretical and practical significance to research how to improve the Honor System in the framework of the Ideological and Political Education.As a product of the times, the Honor System reflects the changes of the economy, politic and culture of each age. Similarly, the Honor System of an industry is bound to reflect the characteristics of the industry. The coal industry has its own characteristics, because the workers always survive in tough environments and their lives are under threat at any time, which make mine workers need more concerns,respects and encourages from the industry, especially from the community and the country. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the Honor System on China’s coal industry. Through collecting the history of the Honor System, it points out that there are still some serious problems in the Honor System of China’s coal industry from the perspective of the Ideological and Political Education. The Honor System is lack of coordination between material encouragement and spiritual encouragement, out of balances between social recognition and government recognition, lack of uniform legal basis, its honor singles lack of features and the ideological and political work of coal enterprises can’t play its role well. These problems are due to the great changes of the economy and politic, and the institution reform of the coal industry. And it, as well, has great relationship with the workers whose ideas has changed a lot but the ideological and political woks failed to adapt to the changes. Therefore,under the new situation, it has an urgent requirement to improve the Honor System of China’s coal industry. In the background of emphasizing the rule of law and building a socialist core value system, we can uphold the scientific principles, build a strong basis of the Honor System,and create a good atmosphere to respect and cherish honors. Eventually we can achieve sustainable development of the coal industry.
