In view of the entire history of human being, all-round human development is not only the origin to promote social progress and development, but also the eternal goal of value pursuit. Marx devoted his whole lives to explore this issue, especially in the German Ideology. He has established scientific materialist conception of history for the first time, and discussed all-round human development systematically for a response to the mystery.This thesis based on the German Ideology, exposes primarily the historical origin, the connotation, the characteristics of the theory and the important enlightenments of the theory to the modern society. In the first part, it discusses the historical origin of all-round human development, and summarizes Marx’s works and his views from infancy period to the formation period and elaborates the formation of the theory in detail. The second part mainly consists of the main content of the thought on all-round human development in German Ideology, within which Marx’s define the premise of all-round development of people. Marx pointed that the all-round human development should be "real individual" who should be alive and could do practice in the social history. Secondly, in this work, Marx expounds the scientific connotation and the fundamental measurement of all-round development of people. He thinks that all-round human development is relevant to people’s needs, social relations, ability and the comprehensive development of personality and that human active performance and free personality is the basic standard. Then Marx analyzes the reasons of people’s one-sided development deeply and ways to realization. He thinks that only by eliminating theliving labor, which can limit and warp human’s personality, the old division of labor and private ownership, can human be bounded to the real group. In this way, people could return to the true collective group and move from the "national history" to "world history" and eventually achieve development. In the third part, this thesis, according to the work, describes the theoretical characteristics of Marx’s thought of all-round development of people. Generally speaking, Marx’s findings are based on the scientific materialist conception of history, the practice of activities of people and the relations between the people and the society. In the fourth part, this thesis analyzes the enlightenments of Marx’s thought of all-round human development on the current situation.Marx’s thought on all-round human development has contemporary significance. Firstly, it can guide China to enlist all-round human development as the basic value of social development. Secondly, it puts forward the idea that China should promote and make perfect the system construction to provide the mass material support. At last, it is informed that we should comply with the process of the globalization to realize human modernization.
