Since the Basic Adaptive Detection System of Professional Soldiers are used nationwide, it has played an important role to improve the overall quality of our military troops and has enhanced combat effectiveness of troops with tremendous social benefits. However, with the development of social economy, new problems have emerged. Among them, the issue of the recruiting Uighur youth is more and more prominent. The data have shown that Uighur military has more than 13,000 people, Uighur soldiers have become an important part of our troops. When using the Chinese version of Basic Vocational Adaptation System for recruits in Uighur region, we found that the results of intelligence tests and personality tests were subject to different degrees of impact due to the differences in language and cultural background. The system in Chinese language seems to be a tough problem for the recruiting Uighur youth with low level of Chinese to understand and the situation has severely affected the quality of the detection system and the results of test. Meanwhile, lacking the corresponding norm for the state of mental and psychological health of the Uighur youth, their psychological conditions can’t be targeted for evaluation and screening. After the Uighur youth have joined the army, Psychological and psychiatric problems arise, which strongly influences the management and the safety of the army.This project focuses on the language characteristics of the Uighur youth in Xinjiang region, which is based on the existing Psychological Screen System of Chinese Recruitment. By using Meta analysis, Construct Interview, Psychological Testing, Multi-parameter Model and Delphi Method and Survey Technique, the Basic Vocational Adaptation System of Chinese Recruits(Uighur Version) has been developed. We have examined the reliability and validity of the system afterwards to determine the normative score and evaluation criteria of each separated subscale.The revised Uighur version of Basic Vocational Adaptation System for Chinese recruits contains the following three parts:1. Translation and re-translation: We translated the Mandarin version of Psychological Screen System of Chinese Recruitment into the Uighur, afterwards, the Uighur version into Mandarin, comparing with the original version. Seminars were then held to discuss the completeness, integrity and accuracy of each item in screen system.2. Comprehension tests and project debugged: We randomly chose 130 Uighur youth to take the pre-test as well as the comprehension test. According to the results of comprehension tests, some items of the scale were evaluated by Ethnology experts, Uighur language experts, Psychologists and Psychiatrists, modifying the syntax, popularization of expression, cultural differences, cultural taboos, understanding ambiguity, etc. The first draft of scale were established eventually.The Uighur version of Basic Vocational Adaptation System for Chinese recruits includes intelligence test and personality test, which comprisesarithmetical operation and verbal test in the former test.The personality test, on the other hand, includes 8 factors and 283 items.3. Project analysis and reliability / validity test: We chose the recruiting Uighur youth in the summer of 2014,Permanent Uighur population in Urumqi and Uighur patients with schizophrenia in a hospital treatment period in the fourth people’s hospital of Urumqi city as research objects. According to the study design for data collection, the reliability and validity of scale were analyzed by using a variety of statistical methods.The results are as follows:1. The results of thearithmetical operation:witha 0.65 item difficulty, a 0.43 discrimination and a 0.84 Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency reliability, the indicators well conform with standards of psychometrics.2. The results of verbal test: with a 0.70 item difficulty, a 0.41 discrimination,a 0.84 Cronbach’s Alphainternal consistency reliability, the Chinese Soldier Intelligence Test(the Uighur version) could well reflect the participant’s level of language ability.3. Results of personality test for Chinese soldier: the raw scores of personality test were accord with normal distribution, personality subscales were suitable for eliminating inferior people. The Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency reliability is 0.79, and the test-retest reliability of each subscale averaged to 0.87; Scores of schizophrenia patients were significantly higher than normal people in Net、Set 、Dit、Dev、Imp and Ant scale. The results also showed that the personality test of the Uighur version for Chinese Soldier had good distinction validity for schizophrenia and normal people.The project has developed the Uighur version of personality test and intelligence test for Chinese soldiers. The reliability and validity has been examined with computer-aided detection established. The results indicate that the Uighur version of Basic Vocational Adaptation System for Chinese recruits corresponds too riginal theoretical supposition; the scale enjoys fairly good reliability, validity and discriminative ability, conforming with standards of psychometrics. We are still obliged to carry out longitudinal follow-up study among Uighur recruits to further verify the efficiency of the scale and establish a more scientific evaluation criteria.
