Government is the management of the area and its competitive power is an important factor relating to the regions’ competitive power. In a large area, the local government has an important role in regional economic development. In order to get a variety of resources, political influences and the right to speak, different local governments would compete with each other or joint to fight. This time is reflected the significance of the government competitive power. Whether the local government can play its role and promote the level of social and economic development often depends on the size of the government competitive power. Therefore, the government competitive power is the key to get and maintain the economic development of the region.Firstly, we have been finished reading some researches about government competitive power. Secondly, we select quantities of the comparative indicators of nine provinces of Pan-Pearl Delta(np-PPRD) in developing, regulating and protecting economy such as the economic construction expenditure in proportion of financial expenditure, the whole society into productivity, the social basic insurances, etc. What’s more, by collecting np-PPRD’s data, we make the comparative analysis to further explore the differences and reasons for the np-PPRD government competitive powers. The study shows that owing to the location, history, policy, human resources and other factors, the government competitive powers of the np-PPRD are different. We find that Guangdong and Fujian Provinces are in the upper level of the np-PPRD.Sichuan, Hunan and Jiangxi Provinces are in the middle level of the np-PPRD.Hainan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Yunnan are in the lower level of the np-PPRD. Based on the above analysis, the article in the last put forward the corresponding suggestions for how to improve the level of the competitive powers of the np-PPRD.
