Research on the motivation mechanism about the Chinese employees in the Consulates General of the developed countries in GuangzhouThe Chinese employees in the Consulates General in Guangzhou, as a special group of the government employees in China, play an important role for our foreign affairs. Currently, the high resignation rates and increasing administration cost have challenged many consulates general. Meanwhile, some Chinese employees lacked of motivation and have do-nothing attitude.The developed countries have employed the government employees for many years. The consulates general of the developed countries occupy the major part of all the consulates general in Guangzhou as well as the number of their Chinese employees. China always seeks cooperation and useful experience from the developed countries. Currently, some scholars have studied the motivation mechanism of the government employee in China and made some achievement. As a special part of the government employees in China, the Chinese employees in the consulates general of the developed countries are rarely known by people. It’s necessary to do deep research on the motivation mechanism of the Chinese employees in the consulates general on the base of the existing achievements to complete the research system.By reading literates reviews and doing research and analysis, the paper summarized six major methods of the present situation of the motivation mechanism of the Chinese employees in the consulates general of the developed countries. They are: salary, work, target, authority, promotion, rewards and punishment. The paper used the Herzberg’s two-factor theory to analyze the existing problems and found out the subjective and objective reasons for the problems. The paper provided the suggestions of improving the structure and diversifying the methods of the existing motivation mechanism from different aspects.
