“Intention”, as a special economical and cultural phenomenon, commonly exists in Muslim societies. In Muslim culture, “Intention” is a kind of charity behaviour, which contains two meanings, on the one hand, scattered to the kin of the poor, helping them ride out a storm;on the other hand,at the time of the grand festivals,people put the “intention” into the mosque, seek to the happy of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. With the change of the society, the way of the“intention” also changed, which from the goods to money, filling in all aspects of the hui society, playing an important role in cohesion. But due to lack of the perspective of anthropology, intention is easily neglected, act as a pure economic activities, or even being questioned the waste is a kind of wealth. Intention as a special kind of“sign” in the hui culture, adhering to the perfect morality of Islam cultural, played a connecting the bridge between this present life and the later generations, between people and god, established special interaction and connection, become an indispensable spiritual and cultural quality of Islamic culture. In addition, behind the seemingly one-way given behavior actually has a complex operation mechanism,which get the goal of circulating and multidirectional communication. In this paper,Tai’an Mosque Community is the main field, the author combined with the community’s past and present, from the perspective of economic anthropology, by using the theory of “reciprocity” and religious system research, discuss the intention as the special economic and cultural phenomenon in Islam, how to as a kind of economic behavior embed in the hui nationality religion, culture and all aspects of life,to find the meaning of the “waste” beyond the hui productive economy. Stick the intention back to the standard of the hui nationality culture, revealing the practice of intention and logic behind the operation.In the first chapter, introduces the reciprocal exchange theory in detail, first discussing the issue of economic rationality and embeddedness, and combing the gift exchange of primitive culture and rural society, laid a theoretical foundation for thepaper writing. Then compared the ritual economy of Mayfair Yang and the moral economy of Scott, which explore the essence of the “waste” etiquette economy, to discuss the difference between folk belief of dispersivity religious and institutional religious, in order to find problems that under the islamic system, hui social economic phenomenon – “intention” does not belongs to dispersivity religious and institutional religious in a dispersion, but the combination of the two systems, which is a secular behavior that embedded into community’s politics, life, culture and economic aspects of under in the system and clear of Islam, therefore, the “intention” that seemingly“waste”, has its unique works in exchanges and flow in the community; The second chapter mainly describes the Tai’an Mosque Community, including the situation of the religious center of the mosque, community population, living mode, etc. The third and fourth chapter mainly discusses the type, source, accumulating way of the intention as the special economic phenomenon and how to embed into the community life, and the flow of the intention. The fifth chapter discusses the operation mechanism of the accumulated intention from the perspective of economic anthropology, exploring the operation logic and the religious meaning of the intention in hui nationality.
