The urbanization of China is one of the two major themes in 21th century that impact human development. The core of the urbanization is the the social assimilation of rural-urban migrant workers. To promote social assimilation of this group and the process of urbanization, the government promulgates some support policies on the employment, medical care, housing and children’s education. Implementation of these policies have achieved some effects and deepened part of mirgrant workers the degree of social integration. However, through the investigatation, we found the policies have no significant effect on some mirgrant workers. One important reason is that rural-urban migrant workers are experiencing intergenerational change and continuing to show internal heterogeneity. Formly homogeneity hypothesis and the single way that the realization of social assimilation path are not suitable for different groups of rural-urban migrant workers. In summury. basing on the theory of intergenerational division of ChenHui, this paper used the method of two-step cluster to analyse the 2686 questionnaires nationwide, divide the group of rural-urban migrant workers into three subgroups and contrast their differences. The next we briefly summarizes the research on the dimension and the influence factors of social assimilation in the domestic and international and draw the theoretical assimilation path. Basing on the theoretical assimilation path, we analyze the interview case and abstract the growth tracks of three sub-groups. By comparing the growth tracks of three sub-groups, we found ways that the realization of assimilation path of rural-urban migrants "subgroups have differences in the cultural adaption, social adaption and economic assimilation stages. We draw the two conclusions as followed:(1) The group of rural-urban migrant workers can be divided into three subgroups. The three subgroups can be named vision and confusion, stable and mature and edge and lonely respectively. The subgroup of vision and confusion ofen have not married and not had much experience.Their educational level is higher than the two but suffer from self-abased. The subgroup of stable and mature ofen have married and had children. Their work experience is longger than the vision and confusion. The rate of renting and purchasing is the highest. They have entered the stage of economic assimilation and structure assimilation. The subgroup of edge and lonely is deliberately disjointed the society and afraid to communicate with people. They can not find ascription.(2) The realization of the social assimilation is the process that the interaction and the collaboration between human capital and social capital. The social assimilation of rural-urban migrant worker is a different level, multifaceted process. Although the path of social assimilation is single theoretically, the ways that the realization of assimilation path of different subgroup should have dirrerences. This paper find that the differences of ways that the realization of assimilation path is due to the differences that the interaction and the collaboration between human capital and social capital. Only when human capital and social capital reach the balance, the assimilation can be relatively successful.
