Job Embeddedness Mechanism Of College-graduate Village Officials

In the spring of 2008, The Opinions on Hiring College-graduates as Village Officials (Trial) was formally promulgated. It said that it would cost five years to select 100,000 college-graduates to work in rural area. This document meant that from the system level, the "college-graduates serving as village officials" plan was formally incorporated into the national political power construction, and it would evolve into a period of comprehensive development. In nearly ten years, the full implementation of this policy has played an important role in our country. However, many problems have exposed.In existed studies, scholars of Political Science, Psychology and Sociology try to establish the long-term mechanism of the policy, and to uncover the problem of their integration and adaptation. In this study, the author uses the job embeddedness theory put forward by Mitchell in 2001, attempting to answer a series of questions: How can college-graduate village officials embed into their job? What factors affect their job embeddedness? Do they have any trouble in embedding? How can they overcome these problems?Therefore, the author selects collage-graduate village officials in Shanghai as the research objects, using the methods of qualitative research and text analysis to study the group. The author tries to use three dimensions of job embeddedness theory to classify the problems and intends to localize the framework. The author finds that in each dimension, college-graduate village officials will face some problems in embedding into their jobs. These problems are visible and will have negative impacts on individual work and life. As a result, college-graduate village officials have formed their own set of logic of action to overcome them. The author believes that in the process of overcoming the problems, college-graduate village officials have improved job embeddedness.In addition,other groups can take specific measures to help the college-graduate village officials to improve job embeddedness.
