Objective Due to rapid and sustainable development of China society, the elderly populations increasing which result in deepen Social pressure; Institutional care has become an important part of China’s old - age undertakings. This paper surveys to understand the quality of life of the elderly and its influencing factors, and to explore how to improve the quality of life of the elderly in nursing homes.Methods This paper adopts Quality of Life scale, Social support scale and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-4) in accordance with Eastern, Central and Western regions of discrepancy to survey quality of life of 861 elderly in 21 social welfare nursing homes. The paper takes one-way ANOVA, regression analysis and Structural Equation Modeling to analyze the results.Results1. The quality of life of the elderly score (32.07 ± 6.38 points) is not very good. Gender (F = 7.54, P-0.01), Marital status (F= 5.21, P= 0.02), Educational level (F = 5.65, P = 0.01), Whether suffering from chronic diseases (F = 1.100, P = 0.01), Age (F = 6.93, P = 0.01) difference in quality of life scores were statistically significant; Structural equation model of each variable regression coefficient: Marital status is 2.23, Compliance is -3.811, Education level is 2.756, Whether suffering from chronic diseases is 5.603 which indicate that all have a quality of life directly or indirectly. Gender (F = 7.54, P = 0.01), Marital status (F = 5.21, P = 0.02), Educational level (F = 5.65, P = 0.01), Whether suffering from chronic diseases (F = 1.100, P = 0.01), Age (F = 6.93, P = 0.01) difference in quality of life scores were statistically significant; Structural equation model of each variable regression coefficient: Marital status is 2.23, Compliance is -3.811, Education level is 2.756, Whether suffering from chronic diseases is 5.603 which indicate that all have a quality of life directly or indirectly.2. The survey found the elderly have a good social support (34.37 ± 7.34 points) Low social support (<22 points) is 177, social support (22-44 points) is 599, high social support (> 44 points) is 53, people with chronic disease, education level and marital status are related to social support (P<0.05).3. The survey found that compliance score of elderly (1.699± 1.490 points) is not high. Adherence with medication is correlate with whether suffering from chronic diseases (B= 0.874, p<0.05).4. Elderly’s adherence has a direct impact on the quality of lives. In terms of social support, subjective supports the elderly stay affect their quality of life.5. In terms of the basic characteristics of the elderly, the age, marital status, whether suffering from chronic diseases and education affect their quality of life.Conclusion In this survey, the overall score of the quality of life of elderly in nursing homes is in general (32.07 ± 6.38 points, a total score of 60 points). The adherence, subjective support, age, marital status, whether suffering from chronic diseases and education level has an influenc on quality of life. The nursing homes are required to take measures to improve their increase to increase communicatie with the elderly, organize activities to enhance compliance and other aspects of the elderly to improve their quality of life.
