Old solitary people in rural areas is the rural elderly population of minority groups. Because of their ability to obtain the economy is weak, the lack of life care, the lack of emotional support and other reasons, they are in the status of social vulnerable groups. Chongqing as a pilot city of China"s urban and rural areas, with the characteristics of the integration of rural and urban areas. The rapid development of urbanization, the outflow of a large number of rural surplus labor force, resulting in an increase in the number of elderly people living alone in a certain period of time. Because the elderly living in scattered rural areas, the number of smaller, more scholars will be classified as the category of rural Empty Nester. Elderly people who live alone in rural areas have their own group characteristics and study the status of their social support, which is of great significance to improve and optimize the pension system in China. In the Chongqing area, the study of Old solitary people in rural areas is very little, we need to understand the status of the elderly living in Chongqing, and to develop targeted measures to improve their living conditions.this paper, Dianjiang Chongqing rural old solitary people as the research object,by using both quantitative and qualitative methods,analyzes the data obtained from the field survey.From the aspect of formal social support—include economic support, life care support,and spiritual comfort support, and the aspect of informal social support, by using of social support theory, this paper discusses the status of social support for elderly people living alone in Dianjiang.In terms of economic support,Old solitary people in rural areas can obtain economic income in many ways, but their overall economic situation is poor. In terms of life care support, the old solitary people in rural areas to get less support for daily life care, mainly in the support of neighbors and relatives, community and children to provide less support. In terms of spiritual comfort support, the daily life of the elderly living alone in rural areas is relatively single, spiritual life is empty, children, relatives and neighbors communication is the main body to obtain the support of spiritual consolation, the role of community play a smaller.Through the grasp of the present situation and problems of old solitary people in rural areas social support. It is found that the rural elderly people living alone in the social support problems need to be solved urgently, so from the following several aspects put forward countermeasures and suggestions: is on the one hand the government, giving for strong policy and financial support; second, community, to strengthen the construction of community organizations, improve the ability of management; the third is the family, improve the family supporting function, pay attention to emotional support.
