In the process of new socialist rural areas, rural education plays an important role. However, the serious turnover of secondary school teachers especially in rural central and western regions recent years has become a key issue that impacts the quality of rural education. It has aroused the concern of the relevant departments. Thus, study on the job stability of secondary school teachers in the central and western rural areas is of great significance. It has the function to ensure the quality of rural education, to improve the enthusiasm of teachers, and to promote construction of new socialist country-sides.This paper takes operates the central and western rural secondary school teachers as the object of study. Using the method of questionnaire surveys and case interviews this research investigates the work satisfaction and job stability of rural teachers. Then the survey data was processed by the SPSS15.0.software. Contents of this study mainly includes:the current status of secondary school teachers’job satisfaction and stability in the central and western rural regions; the socio-demographic characteristics and school factors that impact the job satisfaction; the socio-demographic characteristics affecting the job stability; Impacts of job satisfaction on job stability.Based on the data from the questionnaire survey, this research has the following conclusions:the secondary school teachers’job satisfaction structure can be divided into 4 parts which refer to work returns, inner joy, interpersonal relationships and work pressure; the overall level of job satisfaction is on a low satisfactory state, and it also describes the socio-demographic characteristics of different satisfaction factors; the factors that impact job satisfaction can be analyzed from the aspect of individual, and school level; The overall level of job stability is on a lower level; Teachers’satisfaction factors, such as the work returns and career development opportunities, the inner joy and work pressure.exert an influence on teachers’job stability,Countermeasures on the improvement of rural teachers’job satisfaction and job stability have been put forward on the basis of this paper’s research conclusion, which includes: increasing their work returns, offering more training or learning opportunities, developing fair appraisal system for promotion, enhancing their inner joy by promoting "happy work", reducing their work pressure, and taking different measures for different sub-groups to improve their job stability.
