In recent years, it aroused the high attention from several departments, such as Education Ministry, General Administration of Sport of China and Health Ministry and so on, that the physique of our Chinese students is continuously declining. Since1985China has made the nationwide investigation of students’physique every5years. The fruit of the latest investigation (2005-2010year)shows that height, weight and chest measurement of students are increasing, and overweight students are in a large quantity; vital capacity shows the upward inflection point compared the previous time; except the increasing of flexibility quality, other body qualities of college students such as strength, endurance, and explosive force are still declining. As one part of higher education, higher vocational colleges cultivate practically, technically and skillfully specialized talents who have theory knowledge and strong practical capacity and face the first-line position in grass-roots level, production, service and management. As the technical staffs who are going to work in the first-line, the students in higher vocational colleges must have good physique and strong body which is the prerequisite of their study and future job. The main methods of students’ participating in physical exercises are school PE classes and also extracurricular sports activities. However, compared with undergraduate colleges, higher vocational colleges attach not enough attention to physical education, for example, lack of the exercise spots and facilities, weak in faculty, no scientific exercising ideas and methods in the process of students’exercising.Combined with the specialty of cultivating talents in today’s higher vocational education, this essay selected the freshmen in Huanggang Polytechnic College in Hubei, analyzed different indexes of body construction before and after experiments relatively by adopting methods of document-data, interview, experiment and statistical analysis. The researching result showed:1. After10weeks of aerobic gymnastics, the body weights and circumferences of both female and male college students have different degrees of changes. There are little changes of their waists and heights, and also girl’s arm circumference, while girls’weight drops3%and both of their BMI indexes fall2%and3%. These significant changes before and after experiment indicate that doing aerobic gymnastics with regular and longtime plans can effectively reduce the body, lose weight and build up healthy body.2. Both of their vital capacity and males’step test index have improved obviously after10week’s experiment, except females’step test index. It indicates that doing long-time and medium intensity aerobic gymnastics can help improving of the respiratory function and cardiovascular function of vocational college students effectively, thus improving the whole-body functions.3. The experiment reflects that the physical quality indexes of the vocational college students are improved in different degrees, including middle and long distance races, sit-and-reach, and right and left stretch across. It indicates that aerobic gymnastics can improve endurance, flexibility, sensitivity and coordination of the students’physical body obviously. Thus, long-term scientific and systematic aerobic gymnastics has a positive role in enhancing students’ physical quality.
