With the economic development of China speeding up, a large number of rural laborforces have flown to cities. In many rural families, one or both of the parents work outside incities, leaving their children who are called left-behind children in the countryside. Manystudies showed that the problems on the education and growth of the rural left-behind childrenhave become the social problems in the present transitional period of the rural society inChina. Left-behind children’s learning disability is also one of the important problems.Therefore, it is a study of great significance that introducing the professional methods ofsocial work to the rural community services and exploring the new service mode which cansolve the problems about left-behind children’s learning disabilities.With the case of a left-behind child in Xingtai City, the guidance of strength perspectivetheory and the methods of interview and action research, the present study describes the ruralleft-behind children’s performance of learning disabilities in detail and analyzes the reasons ofthe rural left-behind children’s learning disabilities from the three aspects of individual,family and society. The present study aims to arouse the family, school and government’shighly attention and concern and hereby appeal to the whole society pay more attention to theleft-behind children who belong to the vulnerable groups. The present study draws thefollowing conclusions: on one hand, the serious problems of the rural left-behind children’slearning disabilities are in urgent need of professional services and the social workintervention of strength perspective theory is effective for the rural left-behind children’slearning disabilities; on the other hand, the beneficial resources from family, school,government and society as well as the cultivation of the rural localized social work talents areneeded for solving the problems of the rural left-behind children.
