Colleges and Universities are the main position of the ideological and politicaleducation, and they are the cradles of carrying the excellent talents for the construction ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics. Along with the development of economic society,the update of modern communication technology, and all kinds of cultural communicationbetween every country in the worldwide, the independence, selectivity, diversity andvariability of college students’ ideological activities are more obvious. In this context, theeffect of traditional dominant ideological and political education which makes the“cramming method” as the main way of education has been weakened gradually. Therefore,we must adapt to The Times demand, not only do we adhere the traditional way such asclassroom teaching, the party branch activities, but also we develop and utilize therecessive ideological and political education resources which are contained in the elementssuch as campus environment, campus culture and management system of colleges, in orderto take an indirect, hidden and comprehensive way to make college students improve theirideology and moral character by osmosis. This kind of education activity is the recessiveideological and political education.This paper starts from the connotation, characteristic and functions of the recessiveideological and political education, bases on the status of the recessive ideological andpolitical education in colleges and universities, analyzing the actual problems, and explorethe feasibility path of the recessive ideological and political education. The first chapterclarifies the scientific connotation of the recessive ideological and political education incolleges and universities, analyzes the basic characters and functions of the recessiveideological and political education in colleges and universities and the relationship with thedominant ideological and political education in colleges and universities, to get morecomprehensive and accurate understanding on the recessive ideological and politicaleducation. The second chapter analyzes the reasons of the main problems which consist inthe current recessive ideological and political education in colleges and universities, to laid a solid foundation for building an effective system of recessive ideological and politicaleducation in colleges and universities. The third chapter proposes the three-dimensional,systematic path of strengthening the recessive ideological and political education incolleges and universities through analyzing the basic principles of education idea,education methods, and how to give full play to the role of educators, excavate therecessive education resources and improve the guarantee mechanism, and other aspects.
