Word problems are a shortcut window to junior student to know how toput them in mathematic application. They are not only an important way totrain junior student form the sense of putting them into practice andunderstand the thought and method of Mathematical Modeling but also anefficient carrier of improving the ability of solving problems. In this paper, weproposed a method, which based on the analysis of document, combined withinterview, questionnaire, oral report and analysis of the main content, to studyon junior high school of FuXingZhen, Dejiang county in Guizhou province.Study basic conclusions are as follows:Firstly, students with learning difficult in great number of rural middleschool. Most of them are afraid of math word problems because they can’tunderstand the meaning of the questions and can’t find a method to workthem out.Secondly, students with different level have different characteristics. Topstudents have strategy in solving problems. The main reasons are that they canmake better use of metacognitive strategies, they have good ability of readingcomprehension, they can more understand the type of subject, can make gooduse of the features in subject, modeling and calculating ability is good, moreimportant is that they have a good sense to check the problem. Middle levelstudents solve problem by experience, their metacognitive ability is poor,reading comprehension is common. They can only understand the type of subject they familiar with, have moderate ability in modeling and calculateand no sense to check the problems. However, students with the characteristicsof top students and middle level students are in the minority. In fact, moststudents are the kind of learning difficulty in rural middle school. They havedifficult in doing math word problems, such as they can’t understand themeaning of the question, can’t understand the type of subject, readingcomprehension and modeling ability are poor and so on. What’s more, theycareless in calculating and only check problems until they find them.On this basis, further analyzes the affect the ability of the countrysidejunior middle school mathematical word problem solving poor student relatedfactors, and put forward the corresponding countermeasures.
