Research On Career Dilemma Of College Counselors

College counselors are an important part in teaching and managing team, andhave dual identity as a teacher and supervisor. College counselors are the main powerfor college students to develop ideological and political education, and also theorganizer，doer and supervisor. College counselors should try to become the students’life tutor and bosom friend. In recent years, our government and the Party has built aseries of policies for keeping the counselors team’s development, and reflets that theypay much attention and support for counselors’ team building. Undoubtedly, it is agood news for counselors team. However, the reason of counselors workloadincreased is more and more young people come into college. In addition, with theincreasing complexity of the environment of the country, various cultural trendscollide, people’s ideas and values are increasingly diversify. It also brings a bigchallenge to the higher colleges’ ideological and political education and institution ofcollege counselors. Under the influence of internal and external environment,counselors would face to many dilemma and problems.This research is going to investigate counselors’ occupation dilemma byquestionnaire. And it also summarized the constitution of college counselor teams, thecounselors work state and the internal and external reason with development. At last,it found out the solution for the counselors’ developing difficulties.The first part introduces the research background and significance of the research.And it compared the difference between China and other countries, including the teambuilding, the way to be professional. The more, this part also explained themethodology in this research.The second part mainly analysis the data of the questionnaire result, summarizesthe counselor team, including age, gender, educational background, marriage status,working years, the number of the students of every counselor, job situation, and sumup the current situation of counselors from the aspects of cognition, counselors workon job satisfaction, occupation identification, counselors work, the dilemma and soon.The third part analyzes the details of the counselors career dilemma. It includesrole and work orientation is vague, counselors management system is not perfect,counselors’ job identity is low, counselors’ level can not satisfy the job’s need. Otherwise, the third part also analyzes the reasons of the counselors’ dilemma fromnational, school and personal levels.The part four points out the analysis to the difficulties with counselors’development from the policies, universities and individual. The government shouldinsist on carrying out the policies, building the union and improving the humanisticcare for counselors. The university should manage and improve the system withcounselors’ performance for solving their problems. On the other hand, the counselorsshould manage their career and work hard to reach their goal, to hold the life into theirhand.
