In modern society, the popularization of higher education and demand for graduates’ability become diversifying. Students’ learning has become personalized. Traditional trainingmodel is no longer applicable. It is urgent to a new training mode. Mass customization camefrom a production model since it used in manufacturing technology. It’s effective to solve theconflict between customer and enterprise. The education system facing similar problems justlike manufacturing systems nowadays. Thus the idea can be lent to the field of highereducation to resolve the contradiction between university and customer.The mass customization in higher education is an emerging research. Thus analysis theresearch status of inside and outside which relate to mass customization of higher education.Founding that lack of quantitative research. Most study abroad were focused on the pedagogy.Domestic research were similar comparison on higher education systems and manufacturingsystems, and the implementation of mass customization in higher education is feasible andqualitatively describes the underlying implementation. Through analysing and summarizingrelevant historical documents point out that it has similar laws with manufacturing systems,that single piece production-mass production-mass customization. It makes the proposing ofmass customization in higher education more convincing. Further, it points out the trend ofmass customization in higher education during the popularization of higher education.The course system is the key through previous study. From the evolution of mechanicalengineering course, combined with the different stages of social change and economicdevelopment, proposing the course system’s four features in the popularization of highereducation. Then applied mass customization’s modular and postponement to build a coursesystem of mass customization in higher education to make it more suitable. The modularcourse system is an important means to achieve it. Application of value engineering onmodular course system in-depth analysis, quantitative calculate the value coefficients of eachcourse module. Thus identified the specific optimization object module, and using SPSSsoftware to specific survey results, proposing the optimization recommendations.
