With the vigorous Competence Education campaign in the1990s, or thepromulgation and the implementation of the New Curriculum Reform of BasicEducation in our country, School-based Curriculum Development(SBCD) has beenincreasingly become a hotspot. People are clearly awarded of the importance ofcurriculum reform by the school-based curriculum development, simultaneously, inthis process, more and more schools are changing for educational values orientation.Creating characteristic school has become a hot choice. It has an important strategicsignificance of schools, especially in the rural primary and secondary schools thatcombining the school-running characteristics and school-based curriculumdevelopment, forcing them symbiosis and developing school-based curriculum in thefield of view of running characteristic schools. Rural education has always been thefocus of educational field, because it not only directly related to the physical andmental development of rural students, but also related to the development of ruralsociety and economy development. Therefore, the theoretical basis of the ruralschool-based curriculum development in rural areas should also have a feature of ruralcharacteristics, that is, integration practical curriculum theory and the moderncurriculum concept of people-oriented and the knowledge concept featuring regionalcharacteristics. On the basis of carefully studying of previous research, this paper layson rural primary and secondary schools in northern Shaanxi, focuses on the currentproblems of school-based curriculum development in northern Shaanxi rural schools. Ithas described the school-based curriculum development background of rural primary and secondary schools in northern Shaanxi and analyzed the factors that influence theirschool-based curriculum development through questionnaire survey, as well as deepgoing research, investigation and analysis. Then, using the case study method tosummarize and analyze some typical cases of rural school-based curriculum in andabroad which successfully promoted the establishment of characteristic schools. It alsosummarizes the relationship of characteristic schools establishment and school-basedcurriculum development. Finally, on the basis of actual development of the rural areasin northern Shaanxi, in order to provide some theoretical and practical references, thedissertation puts forward school-based curriculum development that is supported bycharacteristic agriculture, local culture and the interaction of the village and schools.
