The reform of higher education pays more attention to improve quality,structure, level and comprehensive benefits of higher education throughchanging traditional teaching methods and studying to try a new teachingmethod in order to conform to the new teaching objectives. The experientialteaching is a new method which not only combines students’ learning and lifeexperiences, but also emphasizes students’ emotional development. It leadsstudents to study in a vivid and perceptual teaching situation and enhances theircomprehensive abilities including communication ability, expression ability andlogical thinking ability. So it is believed that the experiential teaching adds tofresh air and renewed energy for higher education.The thesis based on modern education theory gives a explaining to thetheoretical and practical significance of the experiential teaching in westerneconomics teaching in a combined way of theoretical research and empiricalresearch. The first part includes research objectives, research contents andresearch methods. The second part gives information on the basic concepts andtheoretical basis of experiential teaching. The experiential teaching is based onMarxism epistemology, emotional education, constructive learning theory andDewey progressive education. The third part analyzes the teaching situations ofwestern economics teaching and puts forward advantages and demand of theapplication of experiential teaching in western economics teaching throughquestionnaire survey to college students in Gui Zhou normal university. The forth part summarizes the experiential teaching’s teaching platform designingand operational process by combing related theory of experiential teaching andthe objectives of western economics teaching. The teaching platform designingrefers to situational teaching which includes real life situations, stimulantsituation and role experience situation and activity teaching which coversrole-playing activities, communication activities and inquiry activities.Moreover, every method will be illustrated in detail in this part. The fifth partexplains teaching examples through combining demand and method of theexperiential teaching’s teaching platform designing. The sixth part analyzessurvey data and students’ materials and then concludes teaching examples togive some suggestions for future studies.
