| This paper takes the 389 papers published on Journal of Sports Economics in 2004-2013 decade as investigation object, and analysis those papers to researh the progress and trend of western sports economics in recent years. Journal of Sports Economics (JSE), peer-reviewed and published quarterly, publishes scholarly research in the field of sports economics. JSE is unique in that it is the only journal devoted specifically to this rapidly growing field. The aim of the journal is to further research in the area of sports economics by bringing together theoretical and empirical research in a single intellectual venue.The purpose and meaning of research:the aim of this paper is to understand the development status of western sports economics comprehesively and objectively, to provide the basis of theoretical investigation, and to provide the reference basis for subject construction of sports economics by studying the classic research results of western sports economics deeply, and holding the research field, research hot points and basic trends of western sports economics.Results:1. Because of carrying on the supplement in 2007, the annual number of JSE articles increased from 30 too 42.7. JSE divides into four columns: article, research notes, book review, evaluation/reply. The number of papers in article column is the largest, accounted for 65.0%, followed by research notes, accounted for 17.7%.2. The number of papers form USA is the largest, accounted for 64.1%, followed by Europe, Asia, Oceania. The number of paper form Agrica is almost zero. Two-thirds of all the papers of JSE are co-authored papers. The average annual cooperation degree is 1.90, and 38.7% papers are co-authored within unit,61.2% are across units with more category.3. On the basis of articles on this journal, divide the articles in JSE into ten areas. By the statistics the author finds that research fields of industrial organization of sports competitions and labor relations in professional sports are hot areas.4. The author completed the induction of high frequency keywords by cataloguing the keywords on published papers, finds the keywords in more than 20 times:competitive balance, attendance, efficiency and sports economics. In the process of classificaiton, the author also finds that many keywords are belonging to industria organization of sports competitions sports competitions and labor relations.5. Based on the analysis of JSE, the reseach progress and trend of western sports economics are:the number of paper rising, economics disciplining in globalization and cooperative phenomenon is common, focusing on competitions and sports athletes. |
