Formulating scientifically a master’s degree postgraduate training program is the key to improving the quality of postgraduate education.In this paper, the author first explores the basic theory on postgraduate training,reviews the past development of archival education in America, Canada and China. Bydocument study, case analysis, questionnaire survey and statistical method, the authorselects the five training programs as the research samples from Renmin University ofChina, Soochow University, Wuhan University, Shanghai University and GuangxiUniversity for Nationalities. We mainly analyse the differences in training objectives,training timelimit, curriculum, assessment methods between different schools. At the sametime, we investigate two other training programs form Simmons College and University ofBritish Columbia. The achievements and the problems are investigated within the systemof archival education in China and foreign countries to provide helpful hints for the furtherdevelopment of the archival education in China.
