China has currently built the most systematical and comprehensive education system in archival science, from the fundamental vocational training, to the intermediate archival skills education to the higher education in bachelor, master and doctor programs. And as the main body of the higher education of archival science, the master program, plays a fundamental and key role in cultivating professional talents of high-level and quality due to its bridge function connecting bachelor and doctor programs. The past30years witnessed the quick development of our master program of archival science. Some achievements were made while many inevitable problems also existed. American master program of archival science owns the characteristics of "late set-up but high level" and shows a relatively more mature development than our country. Thus, its archival education provides us the guidance and enlightenment in many ways. In recent years, our research thesis on the master program of archival science is limited. Our researches mainly focus on the education reform in bachelor program of archival science. Thus, this thesis on the Sino-US master program of archival science owns the theoretical value and practical significance.On the basis of the actual situation of master program of archival science in our country, and the history of the master program in China and USA, this thesis focus on making comparison between two countries in student enrollment, cultivation scheme, academic degree system and student employment, analyzing the differences and causes and finally trying to put forward to suggestions to promote our master program of archival science a healthy and sustainable development. In the process of the research of this topic, the author collected documents, made comparisons and quantitative analysis to study the current situation of master program of archival science in China and USA and concluded the differences and deficiency existing in the master program of archival science in two countries. Under the support of a large amount of data and information, the author suggests to further improve the master program of archival science in our country from the aspects of training objectives, curriculum setting, teaching staff, degree thesis, practice courses, etc.
