Abstract:In recent years, with China’s economic development and the increasingly rise of the comprehensive national strength, Chinese language has been welcomed by more and more countries all over the world. In order to satisfy Thai students’ requirement of studying Chinese, the Thai Department of Education has set up Chinese classes in every stages of the education. This Chinese-teaching development in Thailand has found the support of China, who dispatches volunteer teachers to Thailand and supplies teaching materials. On the other hand, Thai Department of Education encourages and supports Thai students to learn Chinese in China, in order that they could become Chinese teacher after coming back to Thailand. However, in the field of Chinese education in Thailand there are still many problems that influence its full development. Personally, I worked in Thai land Islam School as a Chinese teacher for a short period, teaching to students that didn’t have any knowledge of Chinese langucige. In my personal experience, I observed that Chinese volunteer teachers usually encounter many problems after coming to Thailand, like using Thai language for communicate with students, lacking experience to managing classes etc. On the other hand, Thai teachers have problems as well because most of them are not graduated in Chinese teaching major and their knowledge of Chinese is not enough. From the perspective of teachers, this paper will take the Thailand Islam School as an example to analyze the present problems in Chinese teaching and put forward related strategies.
