Textbook plays an indispensable rule in the process of teaching and learning as well as in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of other Languages. Chinese textbook which is of high-quality, applicable and full of interests can not only stimulate learners’ interest in learning Chinese, but also promote the development of classroom teaching. In recent years, with the in-depth cooperation between Hanban of China and Department of Education of Thailand, Volunteer program for Thailand continues to flourish and give impetus to the progress of Chinese teaching. However, the issues about Chinese textbook in Thailand are still prominent. This study tries to research on the utilization and construction of Chinese textbook, based on the special backgrounds and characters of Volunteer program and the learners, with a randomized survey on thirty middle schools in Thailand(cooperators) by means of questionnaire. According to data analysis by SPSS17.0, the problems on Chinese textbook focus on two aspects, one is needs about “quality” and “quantity”, the other is requirements about “utilization” and “construction”, the latter is obviously more serious. This study also intends to provide some suggestions from different angles of the Chinese volunteer teachers, Hanban of China and cooperative schools in Thailand for the purpose to promote Volunteer program as well as Chinese teaching in Thailand.
