| With the international promotion of Chinese going deep into a lot of countries and territories, teaching Chinese under different cultural backgrounds increasingly demonstrates diversity and individuation. In some communities and schools Chinese teaching gradually comes into being a steady model of teaching with its distinguishing feature through the long-term constantly groping and growing-up.Westlake Boys High School is located in Auckland, New Zealand. Chinese teaching in Westlake Boys High School started from the year of2003, so far, the school has been teaching Chinese for eleven years. And Westlake Boys High School is one of the biggest high shools which have large scale of Chinese teaching in New Zealand. The Chinese teaching of Westlake Boys High School has formed into a steady model of teaching. This thesis will use four research methods, including literature research method, observation method, questionnaire survey and interviewing method. Model of teaching has five basic elements, including teaching philosophy, teaching objectives, teaching organization, teaching methods and strategy, teaching evaluation and feedback. Based on the five basic elements of model of teaching, I will discuss and research on the model of Chinese teaching of Westlake Boys High School, so explore the model’s features and the reasons. This thesis is the first one to try to systematacially explore and research on the model of Chinese teaching in New Zealand high schools. I hope this thesis can provide some referential opinions and suggestions on Chinese teaching for other high schools in New Zealand and even the schools in other countries, and for global Chinese language teachers, as well. |
