Language knowledge in middle and primary schools’ Chinese language textbooks was weakened as the application of the2001new curriculum standard and emergence of the view of refraining from the systematic language knowledge.Classical Chinese Language has always been a difficulty in the teaching of middle school Chinese language. Weakening of language knowledge in the textbooks is bound to bring some new changes of courses and teaching. What is the exact state of the language knowledge after being weakened? Does it bring active changes to the learning of classical Chinese language? Could it meet the demand of classical Chinese language teaching?Upon these questions, the author selected the highschool compulsory Chinese language textbooks (curriculum-standard version) by the People’s Education Press (PEP) as the study target. Through studying on the quality and level of setting of the classical Chinese words knowledge in the textbooks and on the textbooks’ application effect in teaching and the feedback of teachers, the author used accurate statistics from the study and analyses of application effect to evaluate the rationality and defect of the setting, so as to provide sufficient data and basic research materials for the future improvement of Chinese language textbooks.The essay is divided into five parts. Part one is the introduction, mainly arguing the reasons and meanings of the subject, and reviewing the concerning articles on classical Chinese words knowledge.Part two includes the background information, mainly reviewing the national teaching documents and the academic mainstream points, and designing of the study plan explaining the research purposes and study perspectives.Part three and four are the emphases. Part three mainly includes the collection and demonstration of study statistics from the setting of the classical Chinese words knowledge in the highschool compulsory Chinese language textbooks (curriculum-standard version) by the PEP. Study targets are mainly notes, exercises and short articles in textbook five. Part three also includes summaries and analyses of the setting characteristics in different study targets.Part four focuses on teaching feedback on the textbooks and the study on the teaching effect. It includes information acquired through three different ways, namely interviewing teachers, observing classes and testing students by papers. The author undertook analyses and research on the actual teaching effect and the influence exerted by the quality, quantity and expressing way of the setting.Part five is the conclusion. The study shows that setting of classical Chinese words language in the textbooks brings about the less systematic and incomplete knowledge in terms of Lexicology, and the loss of knowledge which is along with the rule, and applies to the learning of classical Chinese language.
