China, with a population of1.3billion, but about700million ofthem live in the countryside. The rural middle school accounts for40percent with morethan50,000primary and high schools across the country, therefore, the rural educationplays a significant role in the whole national education system. Only the rural educationbecomes better, the basis of the national education level can make great progress. Manytimes of reformation on elementary education have been carried on since our countrywas found. In2011, the Ministry of Education issued "Reform Program for BasicCurriculum(Trial)", and started to promote full implementation in the countryaccording to the quality education and new curriculum reform standard set by the newround curriculum plan. In2003, the Ministry of Education issued " High School PhysicsCurriculum Standard (draft)", in which especially emphasized that experiment teachingof physics is an important part of the structure of the basic education course. In the highschool curriculum, Physics as an important subject, especially the physics experiment, plays an important part in the process of practical teaching, because it is not only animportant way of training students’ scientific literacy, but also is an important part of thephysics course reform。therefore, focusing the present situation and development onphysics experiment teaching in rural areas middle school that has important practicalsignificance. In the theoretical part, chapter one introduces the background of the newcurriculum reform and the present domestic research status at home and abroad. Chaptertwo reviews the propose and development of the concept of new curriculum reform forour high school physics in the new century, and illustrates the significance of the theory of rural middle school physics experiment teaching, also discusses the basic issuesabout the new curriculum reform theory, then introduces the three main theoreticalguidance of new curriculum reform in China: the theory of multiple intelligence, constructivism theory and postmodern theory. Chapter three analysis the importance ofmiddle school physics experiment in teaching from four aspects: the history of physics, the formation in high school physics teaching, the special significance on physicsteaching in the rural middle school and the specific requirements of physics curriculumstandard. In the survey and research part, the author combines the3year’s work experienceand visit in Gulin county of Sichuan, and guided by the scientific theory and method ofanalysis, then using the questionnaire investigation, analysis, statistics, photography, and observation to mainly discusses the advantage and disadvantage in the physicsexperiment teaching process in the local rural high school, such as experimentalresource, teachers’ literacy and students’ learning, experiments, and social requirements. The rural middle schools are chosen as a representative in the same time, by comparingthe present changes before and after the new curriculum reform in physics experimentteaching, and thinking about what experience and enlightenment will be brought forphysics experiment teaching reform in the future. Finally, under the new curriculum reform, the author proposes several suggestionsto the physics experimental teaching in Gulin rural areas from the following aspects:improving the teaching environment in physics experiment, changing the teachingconcept of physics experiment, improving teachers’ quality in physical experiment, strengthening the development of physical experiment resources, enriching the teachingmeans on physics experiment, and improving the evaluation standard on physicsexperiment.
