Geographic written expression ability is an important part of the geographyteaching system in high school.The assessment objectives and requirements inNational Geographic entrance syllabus echoes the course objectives of newcurriculum standards,which provides policy guidance and geographic reference forth’e geography educators to develop high school studentswritten expression abiliyt.Inaddition, cultivating geographic writing skills is beneficial to improve students’geographic subject ability, thus contirbuting to promoting their geographic literacy.ltis necessary for the geographic education which develops active and responsiblecitizens today and in the future.However,nowadays there are various problems of thehigh school students’geographic written expression ability. Although this situation hascaused the attention of geography teachers,many of them fail to fully recognize the’problems.And that in the process of cultivating high school students geographic“”written expression ability,many teachers focus on how to teach,but ignore thestud’ents learning process and their dominant position status.leading to no availIn order to further improve the geographic written expression ability of highschool sludents?methods such as literature study,survey analysis and observationanalysis are adopted in this paper to carry on the related elaboration.The paper ismainly divided into the following sections:Firstly,in the prolegomenajt sorts out and analyzes the research status about thest’udents geographic written expression abilitv.and then highlights the researchcontent and research significance based on the blind spot at present.Secondly,combined with relevant theories.it perfects the connotation ofgeographic wiiling skills,puts forward the basic features about the good geographictext expression ability and geographic chart expression ability,and then expounds themain factors influencing high school student’s geographic written expression ability. Furthermore,on one hand,it looks into the current situation of high school’studentsgeographic written expression abiliyt with the methods of the item analysisand the the chart survey,and then concludes the relation and distinction between’studentsgeographic text expression ability and geographic chart expression ability.Onthe other hand, the teaching situation of cultivating geographic written expressionability of high school students is also investigated by questionnaire and teaching videoobservation in which high school geography teachers are topics.Fourthly.according to the survey results from high school students and theaforementioned status quo,it deeply analyzes the reason why high schoolstudents’geographic wri tlen expression ability conducts bad from the aspects ofstudents,teachers and so onFinally,on the basis of precedent reasons and the related education theories,itproposes four strategies to cultivate high school studen’tsgeographic writtenexpression ability which are as follows:(1) changing students’ attitude with the aid ofwritten assignments;(2) playing a demonstration efleet by optimizing the teachinglanguage;(3) improving the geographical thinking ability through taking manymeasures simultaneously;(4) strengthening the geographic cognitive structure step bystep.
