Geography acts as a human relations and geographical environment of the integrated disciplines, whose comprehensive, regional, systematic discipline characteristic makes the students cannot directly in the classroom to observe and study related geographic things and geographical phenomena, it also makes the high school geography teaching and learning are abstract, there is a big difficulty. The map is as the second language of geography, which has special functions show spatial geographic information, maps can be recorded, transmission and rendering, geographic information, which makes high school geography teaching in geography learning knowledge and analysis of geographic things become possible. In addition, "high school geography curriculum standard" the basic idea is "essential to cultivate modern citizens geographic literacy", and is one of the important map literacy, education also attaches great importance to education at home and abroad to map, so in the table of geography teaching in middle school geography teaching is very necessary and important. Given the importance of raising students’capability of geographic chart.First, this article will go through the literature method, on the concept of geographic char and geographic chart ability as a foundation combined with the "ordinary high school geography curriculum standards", the geographic chart ability, evaluation and other related concepts to define, and interpreted the relevant theoretical basis.Secondly, in order to clearly determine high students’geographic chart ability in No.2 senior high school of Haibei, the author will do the questionnaire survey, experimental, the survey, observation and so on.To build evaluation system to evaluate students’ ability to geographic chart, paper investigation and design the students’ ability of geographic chart. In the process of all the students in experimental class problem solving situation analysis and evaluation to the students’ ability of geographic chart. By testing found that the students’ geographic chart ability level is poorer. The author will learn three aspects to analyze reasons, finding the problem.Finally, for the students the present situation of the geographic chart ability are different from reading chart, graph, drawing, graph four aspects put forward the cultivation of the practical strategy, hope to be able to help a gleam of geography teachers in geography teaching targeted to teach geography diagram, thus improving the students’ ability.
