As a main culture in vocational schools, math is not only a basic course both tocultivate the students’ intelligence and to improve students’ cultural quality, but also ainstrumental course which provids the necessary knowledge for the specialized course. Butat present students’ mathematics foundation in vocational school is relatively poor, most ofthe students in learning mathematics, particularly in terms of geometry, lack of interest. Soit’s importment for teachers to take proper teaching strategies to improve students’ learninginterest and achievement in geometric.The study focuses on the cognitive processing of geometrical thinking mode ofvocational middle school students. In details, it’s to study the following three questions:(1) The current quality of vocational middle school students about the link betweensymbol information and image information in geometrical thinking;(2) The model processing mechanism of vocational middle school students about theconversion from symbol information to image information in geometrical thinking;(3) The effective methods about teaching and learning on geometry basing on theabove research.We can provide objective advices for vocational schools about educational reform ongeometry through the study on vocational middle school students about the modelprocessing mechanism in geometrical thinking. At the same time, under the background ofChina’s secondary vocational education of geometry, we solved the problem whichproposed by Presmeg: how do teachers should help students to establish the connectionbetween symbol information and image information? The solution of the problem, not onlyenrich the research in the field of information both information and representation, but alsolaid a foundation for the field of the international comparative study in the future.We refered to a large amount of literature, carried on some questionnaire surveys andindividual interviews on49students of Suzhou technician institute, and then took someanalysis on the data we collected. At last, we sumed up the following conclusions: (1) Students’ ability of the conversion from symbol information to image informationin geometrical thinking is on the wane as the increase of complexity of the subjectstructure and the content;(2) Students may experience two stages about characterization of static thinking anddynamic thinking when they convert symbol information to image information in theirgeometrical thinking;(3) Based on students’ prior knowledge, the independent exploration and jointresearch teaching mode will help students to understand the contents of the secondaryvocational mathematics better when in classroom teaching.Finally, we put forward some improvement measures for the present geometryteaching about the problems of the study we have found.
