For nearly thirty years after China’s reform and opening up, the study of writing teaching has been rapidly growing. Chinese writing teaching in high schools has been constantly exploring, but it is still neglected in the actual teaching process. However, the importance of writing teaching is demonstrated in both the college entrance examination syllabus and the New Curriculum requirements for students’ writing ability, so it is very imperative to improve the status of writing teaching and to enhance composition training.This paper investigated and analyzed the current situation of composition training in Zhangjiakou ZhuoLu High School from three aspects of the school, the teacher and the student. The survey of school composition training is conveyed from three aspects:the study of composition subjects, ways of teaching and composition level. The survey of teacher’s composition teaching is conveyed from the three aspects of using composition teaching system, using composition teaching methods, and composition materials accumulation. And the survey of student’s composition training is conveyed from the three aspects of composition training quantity and quality, after-class composition training and the training effects. Investigating from the three aspects of school, teacher and student through interviews and questionnaires has not only advantages but also disadvantages. On one hand, the schools attach great importance to the cultivation of teachers, scientific research, and the construction of hardware facilities; the teachers have solid professional knowledge and good teaching skills; the students generally pay much attention to the composition class, most students have a habit of reading, and they accumulate writing materials well. On the other hand, there are some disadvantages. The schools are lack of writing teaching subjects and scientific researches, the promotion of teaching model is lack of flexibility and autonomy, and the schools confront difficulties in student enrollment and quality; in terms of teachers, the integrity of composition training system is inadequate, the frequency of composition lessons is low, the writing teaching concept is conservative, and the way of composition appraisal too general with low stimulation. And in the aspect of the student, the composition practice is relatively little with intermediate level, and the practice is lack of autonomy and creativity.To change the current composition training situation and to improve the composition training level, it needs the efforts from all sides including the school, the teacher and the student. This paper gives suggestions to Zhangjiakou ZhuoLu High School on the high school composition training in five points. First is to instruct composition training with rigorous systems. Second is to follow scientific design concepts. Third is to design cascade composition training syllabus. Forth is to adjust the training syllabus dynamically. Fifth is to design reasonable training appraisal systems. This paper is mainly to. make the composition training ordered. It aims to design a whole set of integrated cascade composition system and to divide the high school composition training into three levels:preliminary, intermediate and advanced, so that the scattered trainings can be integrated. The target is to change the current composition training conditions of this school and to improve its overall composition training level.
