With the development of the society, the concept of education and teaching methodshave been reformed and innovated,but the final purpose of education is to promote thestudents’ cognitive level and ability through the process of teaching andlearning.Inquiry-based learning is a kind of learning style which advocates students’subjectivity,autonomous exploration and practice in learning. It also changes the teaching andlearning situation in which teachers dominate the process of education and students accept theknowledge passively. Currently, restricted by objective conditions of different areas in ourcountry, the level and development of education are different, and there’re more and moredifferences in education level between urban and rural areas.Although many experts, scholarsand front-line teachers have researched inquiry-based learning of mathematics in juniormiddle school, this research, based on the others’ research advantages, focuses on thecharacteristics of the countryside education of junior middle school in Hainan, which hasmore pertinence and maneuverability.There’re four parts in the thesis. In the first part, the selected topic background isintroduced from the social requirement and education innovation; the research significance iselaborated from the the students’ quality education, the improvement of teachers’capacity andthe construction and development of school.The second part illustrates the theoretical basis,and introduces the related concepts.The third part is about the practical research oninquiry-based learning of mathematics in rural areas of Hainan. In this part, the author firstanalyses the current situation of the teaching and learning in mathematics in junior middleschools of Hainan. Then the research on inquiry-based learning is carried out. Next, accordingto the results of the research, the author analyses the changes in grades and students’ learningattitude before and after the experiment. Finally, the author puts forward implementingproposals on inquiry-based learning of mathematics in rural areas of Hainan, meanwhile,according to the questionnaire and implementation, the author comes up with the classroomannouncements on inquiry-based learning of mathematics in rural areas of Hainan.The fourthpart is the summary and reflection. The author summarizes the practice on inquiry-basedlearning of mathematics in junior middle school,induce the problems carefully and reflects on the key points of the research in the future.The research on inquiry-based learning of mathematics in junior middle school showsthat:compared with the traditional model, the inquiry-based learning of mathematics isfeasible,which can stimulate students’ interest in mathematics learning, enhance theirconfidence and improve math grades as well as improve students’ learning initiative andcultivate the students’ independent practice ability. However, due to the objective restrictions,more abundant preparation and long-term accumulation of experience are still needed ifinquiry-based learning of mathematics is carried out in some rural middle schools that haveweakness in basic knowledge.
