Community of Practice(CoP)is a form of metaphor about learning, which is raised byanthropologist Jean Lave, who looks learning as "legitimate peripheral participation".Legitimate peripheral participation means learners have been identified a culture andenjoyed themselves in some activities such as observation, imitation, communication,problem-solving. CoP has been successfully utilized in many fields such as professiondevelopment, training. Most research training of postgraduate exists problems such as lacking of effectivecommunication and practice. The thesis tries to cultivate the Postgraduate Research TrainingCommunity of Practice (PRTCoP), integrating all aspects of research training of postgraduateand learning resources so that postgraduate can continue to participate in research training. Itconsists of four parts focus on the PRTCoP: element analyses, development designs, PRTCoPcultivates and the cultivating result analyses.Based on reviewing the applied cases of the CoP, section1discusses the method aboutcultivating CoP from four elements: domain, community, practice, and network. Section2summarizes the methods about cultivating CoP from five stages of the CoP according toWenger’s model about the life cycle of the CoP. Based on the surveying about thepostgraduate’s interests and confused in their research, section3designs the “domain” of thePRTCoP and organizes the activities of the PRTCoP and uses network as a tool to constructthe space for the members of the PRTCoP in communicating and sharing. Section4analyzesthe result of cultivating the PRTCoP by the method of context analysis and interviewingresult. The result shows that the PRTCoP can deepen the communication level and sustainedthe discussion of the research training of postgraduate.
