The institution of university counselors was established in1950s. The educatingfunction of university counselors in the students’ affairs administration has beenconstantly emphasized and reinforced. However, in reality, university counselors areexpected to perform more duties of student affairs. From the perspective of institution,universities do not set clear standards of the educating function of and positions ofuniversity counselors. From the perspective of university counselors, some of counselorsdon’t exactly understand the educating function and lack relevant knowledge and theories.Thus, it leads to the weakening of the educating function of university counselors. Thisthesis aims to enhance the educating function of university counselors in the students’affairs administration based on the relevant theories and research results from academia.The thesis consists of three chapters.Firstly, university counselors have the educating function in the students’ affairsadministration. It summarizes the content of the students’ affairs administrationaccording to the definition and functions. Taking the cases of the students’ affairsadministration as an example, it illustrates the importance of the educating function ofuniversity counselors. Then, it discusses the expressions and reasons of the weakenededucating function of university counselors in the students’ affairs administration. In theend, it concludes the effective approaches to reinforce the educating function ofuniversity counselors in the students’ affairs administration, from the perspective ofimproving the educating function of university counselors and optimizing the educationalmanagement system of university counselors. |
