China is one of the countries which are seriously affected by natural disasters. Asa consequence, dealing with the natural disasters and reducing the loss have becomethe extremely urgent problem that needs to be solved. It becomes more important toundertake the task of conducting disaster drills through geography education.Based on the responsibility of geography education and the gap betweengeography and its fulfillment of educational objectives, the author obtain the situationby analyzing textbooks and taking questionnaires among students and teachers andfind some problems in geographic disaster education in Chinese teenagers: studentsare lack of professional knowledge and consciousness of disaster and ability of self-help and mutual rescue.Based on the above analysis in current, the author summarizes the shortcomingsin geography education in senior high school: on one hand, the textbook have lowprevalence; on the hand, it ignores checking geography disaster knowledge in collegeentrance examination.To solve above problems the author takes example by experience of thegeographical disaster education abroad and puts forward some suggestions tooptimize the geographical disaster education: the book’s design should pay moreattention on the popularity and practical, the content of books should emphasize theperfectiveness and systematic; flexibility and variety should be strengthened on theways of our education; meanwhile the evaluate of our education should combine thequality and effectiveness together; finally to cultivate good teachers should lay agood foundation between the pre vocational education and post service education.
