Haiti Earthquake at the end of 2009, Chile Earthquake at the beginning of 2010, The drought in several provinces and cities in South China and frequent sandstorms. The disasters afflict humans all the time. In china, the disaster consciousness of the people of the Nation is very weak. Our country is still lacking in the disaster education in basic education, contrast to some of the world developed countries. "International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction" pointed out: "Education is the center of the disaster mitigation plans, knowledge is the key to the success of disaster mitigation." Thus the disaster education begins at school, school is the best place to carry out disaster education. The geography is the main battlefield of disaster education, therefore, it is particularly important that how to better disaster education in geography.This paper analyzes the necessity and feasibility of the disaster education in high school geography teaching. In this study, it is a starting point that the disaster education in high school teaching situation. The students of Jilin Province Experimental Middle School and Yongji Experimental High School are surveyed through a questionnaire. The design of the questionnaire from three aspects——the reserve level of the thinking of a of disaster prevention and mitigation in high school students , the knowledge and skills of disaster prevention and mitigation, as well as the disaster teaching situation in high school geography class. From the questionnaire, conclude that it have following questions in disaster education in the high school. (1)The disaster awareness of high school students is weak. (2) High school students are lack of disaster knowledge. (3) High school students'disaster rescue skills, self-help each other is not strong. (4) High school students right do not know enough of the disaster-prone around. (5) Geography Class does not assume responsibility for the disaster education. (6) The form of the disaster education is single. (7) The disaster accomplishment of geography teacher is lower. Based on the analysis in the questionnaire, the author gives the improvement strategies in high school disaster education in geography teaching.I believe the findings of this article on the basis of the survey, will do better in the new context of curriculum reform in high school geography teaching for disaster education has a certain significance.
