The government’s bureau of statistics has the responsibility of delivering quality statistical data and services to the party, the government and the general public. Its credibility lays the foundation of this work. In recent years, however, the general public started to raise questions on government statistics. This has resulted in lowered credibility which directly threatens the continued development of government statistical work.The goal of this article is to achieve an unbiased evaluation of the credibility of government statistics. Using the case study of the credibility of government statistics on Shanghai International Transportation Center, this objective will be achieved through the establishment of an evaluation system for the credibility of government statistics and the leverage of effective evaluation indices. A thorough investigation of the root cause of the distrust of the general public towards government statistics has brought to the light the inadequacies of government statistical work nowadays as well as the real need of the public for useful statistics. With the establishment of a communication platform that would allow the government’s bureau of statistics to respond to the public’s demand, the government will then have the capability to take effective measures so as to enhance the credibility of government statistics.This article provided clear definitions of the credibility of government statistics, Shanghai International Transportation Center, etc, and the scope of the research, methodology, as well as technology. It illustrated the principles of government statistical work, the scope of such work, major statistical indices and methodology, and the distribution of the government statistics for Shanghai International Transportation Center. It also discussed the current situation as well as the characteristics of the government statistical work. This not only laid a solid foundation for researching the credibility of government statistics on Shanghai International Transportation Center, but also established an evaluation system that includes the framework, indices, and methodologies for evaluating the credibility of government statistics on Shanghai International Transportation Center based upon the principles used. A comprehensive research study was then conducted using questionnaire surveys to thoroughly investigate the status quo of the credibility of government statistics of Shanghai International Transportation Center. Through the systematic study of existing issues and identifying the causes, this article provided detailed recommendations and measures for improving the credibility of government statistics on Shanghai International Transportation Center.
