With the advent of aging society in our country, the aging problem is also obvious. One of the most important problems is the needs of the elderly. But with the development of society and the elevation of Chinese people’s living standard, the elderly are no longer limited to the satisfaction of physiological needs of the material aspects, such as food, clothes and shelter. Their demands for spirit, culture and health are increasingly prominent, among which the aged education is of great significance in meeting the needs of the elderly spirit, culture and health. The development of the aged education provided opportunities and places for the elderly to participate in learning. However, at present, there are some deficiencies in the development of the elderly education in our country. For example, old people’s learning needs are neglected, which affects the development of education for the aged to some extent. Therefore, to investigate the learning needs of old people becomes an important task.This research based on lifelong education theory, life-span development theory, learning needs theory and hierarchy theory of needs, adopts a method combined with documentary research and empirical study, and makes a summarization about the former studies of theoretical research and practical investigation of the learning needs of the older university students. On the basis of an empirical study on Fuzhou elderly university students learning needs’types and influencing factors, we find that:There are some notable characteristics of older university students learning needs, such as type diversification, the interaction of a variety of learning needs, the learning needs of health care and practical skills are the strongest, affected by many factors, different sex, age and marital status have significantly difference on learning needs. Meanwhile, by analyzing the result of the survey, we also find some problems:(1) Elderly students lack of confidence in their own learning ability;(2) The learning opportunities of university for the aged supply are of great shortage;(3) Teacher’s teaching method is single;(4) Curriculum setup is not reasonable and not close to the life of the elderly students.Based on the analysis of the types and influencing factors of older university students learning needs, this paper first summarizes its characteristics and existing problems, and then this article puts forward the corresponding recommendations for elderly students and old school to meet the learning needs of older university students.
