This study choose the jaw width, which not only on behalf of the evolution by natural selection orientation, but also on behalf of human cultural evolution of social aesthetic orientation, to explore their choice of mate preferences of individuals, then to reveal the associated mapping biological evolution and cultural evolution influence the evolution of the individual. Inspect whether or not Wilson "Gene-Cultural Collaborative Evolution" is reasonable.Experiment1first examine whether there is a relationship between the width of the jaw mapping and survival both competition and socio-cultural orientation. By setting different experimental tasks, subjects were asked to perform the width of the jaw faces choices, results showed that:when subjects were asked which face is more beautiful, they prefer a narrow jaw, when subjects were asked which face is more likely survival, they prefer a wide jaw. Therefore, a narrow jaw more in line with the social and cultural aesthetic orientation of the individual; wide jaw more in line with the orientation of the individual to survive the competitive advantage.Experiment2use the different faces of the jaw width forced to choose one of the two selected paradigm, to overall up inspection individual preference when choosing a spouse. The results showed:under the current level of economic and cultural development, individual when making a mate at the same time to trade off the standards between social culture and the survival competition. Participants with different width of jaw all prefer the middle width jaw face.Experiment3major used to illustrate the relationship exist in some condition. When selecting a low socio-economic level of development of rural elderly subjects, both elderly women and elderly men were not founded the correspondence between the two standards and the jaw width. That is the existence of the relationship between the width of the jaw with the socio-cultural and competition for survival orientations is only appear in the situation where there is a higher level of social and economic development. Otherwise the correspondence will disappear. These studies concluded that, in the current social and economic development level, the individual believes a narrow jaw more in line with social and cultural aesthetic orientation, a wide jaw more in line with the selection competition for survival orientation. When individuals mate would therefore weigh between two standards, the middle width of the mandibular jaw is most preferred. The jaw width and corresponding relationship between socio-cultural and survival competition orientation is influences by the development level of the socio-economic. |
