The thesis studys on the life orientation of the poor second generation in four areas :the occupational orientation, educational orientation, marriage orientation and attitude to life, with the questionnaire which bases on a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.In occupational orientation, the goals on working is to ease the financial difficulties of families. Most people are intend to work in Harbin, with career aspirations of business and management. Most people's job requirements are high; and their enthusiasm of employment is positive, but employment expection is pessimistic. Meanwhile, gender, educational background and employment status effect the occupational orintation strongly.In educational orientation, poor second generation take positive attitude for academic and technical education, while a few of them show strong desire to continue learning. They expect bachelor degree through formal vocational training. Among them, gender and educational background effect much on the educational orientation.In marriage orientation , enthusiasm of marriage is low, and mate choice criteria focus on personal character, health status, body appearance, common interests, hobbies and personal income. The criteria emphasizes personal character, more than other economic ability. Gender and educational background are effective .In attitude of life, poor second generation show a negative emotions on their futher. Their sense of social indifference and social trust is in the general level. In the attitude of family, the level of parental communication is in a normal level, but the level of parental concern is low. The study also found the employed group are more positive than the unemployed groups on life attitude. Educational level and the focus of parents are positively related with life attitude.This study also found that ideal requirements on job and the exclusion of labor market result to the difficulty of employment among the poor second generation. Most of them suffered a deprivation of educational opportunity. Potential abilities are more crutial than personal economical status. The passive attitude are more obvious among the poor second generation.
