From the perspective of positive psychology, this research introducespsychological capital into the study on the career maturity of college students so as toprovide a scientific and effective suggestion to enhance it. Adopting the empiricalanalysis method which combines quantitative and qualitative approaches, the researchstudied the social support, psychological capital and career maturity of1221undergraduate students as well as the relationship among them. The study used socialsupport rating scale, positive psychological capital questionnaire, scale on collegestudents’ career maturity and semi-structured interview as its research tools. Itsconclusions are listed as follow.1. The psychological capital and career maturity of college students are not high on theaverage.2. College students’ career maturity varies significantly with grade, student status andfamily background; the social support they receive varies significantly with gender,student status, family background and type of school; their psychological capital variessignificantly with student status.3. Remarkable positive correlations can be observed among college students’ socialsupport, psychological capital and career maturity.4. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that subjective support, utilization ofsupport, hope and resilience can remarkably predict career maturity. Further dominanceanalysis showed that the four best predictors, ranked in descending order of theirrelative contribution rates, are subjective support, hope, resilience and utilization ofsupport.5. College students’ psychological capital has a partial intermediary effect on therelationship between the social support they get and their career maturity.
