Illustrations are organic patrs of Chinese teaching materials, and they are also the secondlanguage of textbook,especially in the junior grade’s textbook,illustration almost occupy the50%page rate.Why editors put so much lively and colourfiil illustrations on the testbooks?The purposeis obvious:First,it can increase the aesthetic and fun of the textbook;Second,it also can improve theeffectiveness of teaching,for example,stimulating learning motivation,developing students’’pluralism intelligence.Just as the Ye ShengTao said:"The excelent textbooks illustration canenhance the appeal to readers, enhance the reader’s impression, so that readers understand moreclearly, it is no longer the icing on the cake".Therefore,How to give full play to the role ofillustrations in teaching is a important job in the current Cheinese education area.To improve theeducaton efficiency of illustration resource,the paper use Cheinese textbook of primary publishedby the People’s Education Press as the basis,then have a deep sutdy of the illustrations.First,the paper use Dual-CodingTheory and Multimedia Learning Theory as theoreticalbasis,explore the characteirstics of Chinese textbook illustrations,illustrations’design principles,and the design principles of textbook illustration.Provide theory basis for the design and use ofillustrations, enrich the theory basis of the illustrations teaching. So as to the illustration design andues can depend on some theory.Second,depend on these theories>this paper through the mean of content analysis,use theillustration as analysis unit,qualitative analysis the Cheinese textbook of primary published by thePeople’s Education Press.The analysis found that there are many problems in the Cheinesetextbook of primary.For exmple,the errors of illustrations,some illustrations are not sharpenough,the illustrations don’t match the texts very much,the values loss transferee! by illustrationsand so on. All of these are contrary to the scientific criteria of textbook compilation.It is go againsttransfer the right knowledge and values to the students.Last,this paper has carired on the questionnaire survey on teachers and students’unerandinand use of illustrationstheuestionnaire survewas taken on fourrimarschools in Zhejiang province.The inquiry found that:First,both of teachers and students think.theillustrations design of Chinese textbook conform to students’ psychologicalcharacteristics,satisfied to the illustratio,nscolour and type.Second,they also cognize thatillustrations are conducive to teaching and learning,i11ustrations can effectively promote theteaching of ChineseThird, Although the teachers and students recognize the function ofillustrations,but in the reality teaching and learr ing.both of them even not pay attention to theillustrations.This meant that the attention from the teachers and students to the illustrations areinsufficient and ineffective,At last,the main reason for the above phenomenon is that the teacherdoes’n play a leading role in the teaching.So,this paper analyze the cause of thesephenomenona,and put forward the comments and suggestions for illustrations carvers andteachersjn order to improve the quality of textbook illustrations,and provide some guidances foreffective illustration teaching for teachers.
