A Research On English Learning Motivation Among Senior One Students

English learning motivation is one of the important factors which affect the students’English learning. However, English learning motivation between Senior1students and others is different. In order to arouse English learning motivation of Senior1students, the author does research on English learning motivation of Senior1students in a certain senior high school in the form of the questionnaire. Meanwhile some stimulating strategies come up after the data is analyzed carefully.The questionnaire aims at750Senior1students from one senior high school. The result of the research is that their internal motivation is low while the external motivation is high. They consider English as a compulsory course which they have to learn to take part in College Entrance Examination. Also there are some students who are not willing to continue learning English after examination. This external motivation has some effects on their learning attitudes and grades.So the author comes up with some stimulating strategies combining the modern education theory with10years teaching experience. In this research some teaching suggestions are also come up with. By the research, I learn that while teaching English, students’ learning motivation should be taken into consideration. The strategies will be helpful to our English teachers.
