" The curriculum standard of ordinary high school geography (Experiment)" course goalof "process and method" in this dimension that students should "try to find geographicalproblems from learning and life, propose programs to explore, in cooperation with others, tocarry out investigation and study and put forward to solve the problem of decision". So it hasbeen paid attention that to help students build up the awareness of decision-making, solvegeographic problems and cultivate students’ decision-making ability in teaching. But from therelevant literature, the domestic research on cultivating students’ decision-making ability invarious disciplines is relatively less.Paper based on t the practice of he high school geography teaching, on the basis ofdefining the related concepts, from the request of curriculum standard, human geographycharacteristics of human geography teaching in high school the feasibility of training students’decision-making ability adequately, then uses the questionnaire survey for teachers tocultivate students’ awareness of decision-making and the present conditions of the training,aiming to find out the problems existing in the decision making ability, and puts forward thecorresponding strategy.The survey found that the teacher is aware of the importance of training students’decision-making ability, but can’t play a guiding role in teaching; Teachers’ concept ofdecision making, training content and step of the decision-making ability is not very clear;Teachers themselves are rarely or guides the student to put forward decision-making problems,and when meeting the related content, they may take evasive attitude; Teachers in the teachingprocess ignore the characteristics of the students; Teachers need to be in a number of ways ofcultivating students’ positive thinking quality; When evaluating the students’ decision-makingprocess, evaluation subject to tend to the student, should pay attention to values evaluationcontent, evaluation methods and means to diversify.Finally, the author aimed at the problems in training students’ decision-making ability,improving teachers’ quality, clear for the contents of training students’ decision-making ability,the specific steps of training students’ decision-making ability and the cultivation of thestudents’ positive thinking quality put forward strategy, in high school geography teachersbetter able to provide the reference and help to achieve human geography teaching goal.
