Since the Industrial Revolution, the science and technology have developed in a fasterspeed that is beyond the development speed in any period of the human history. There hasbeen a radical change in the material life and people also mostly pay attention to the keywords, such as hi-tech, benefits, transformation which is related to our life. People are urgentto make our life more convenient, more efficient and much more comfortable. However, weseem to forget our inner heart and our own thoughts. The society is facing more and moremental crisis with the rapidly progress of the material life. The spiritual dilemmas, such as,the credit default, the morality undone, the family indifference, the inner emptiness and thesub-health status, all confuse the humans in the world. And these spiritual dilemmas trigger awide discussion on the liberal education.At the beginning of new century, the requirement of liberal education has been definitelyproposed in the new curriculum reform of basic education in our country. And the curriculumstandard of Chinese in middle school firstly indicates the importance of humanity in Chinesecurriculum. It points out that the humanity accomplishment is a significant part of theeducation in middle school. The Average High School Course Standard (experiment) statesclearly that the Chinese language is one of the most important communication tools and alsopart of the human culture. The unification of utilizable and humanity is the essential feature ofChinese courses. However, the importance of liberal education isn’t embodied in the currentChinese teaching practice. What’s more, the approach to improve the students’ humanityattainment is also problematic, especially under the background of new curriculum reform, alarge number of front-line teachers haven’t absorbed the advanced theory and can’t make fullof it educate the students in class. As a result, it cause some embarrassment between thepractice and theory.I take some deep analysis on the humanity accomplishment of students in the middleschool and try to work out some useful solutions from the perspective of humanisticsignificance. I also try to think about the relation between reading-teaching approach andhumanity education. I hope to find out the humanity element in the reading-teaching processby analyzing the readers and reading materials so as to emphasize the importance of humanityaccomplishment. This paper summarizes and analyzes the textbooks for middle schools anddoes some reflection on the humanity accomplishment by some specific cases, hoping to help improve the humanity accomplishment of middle school students.
