Teacher competency research is one of the hot spot of currentresearch.the research results about head teacher competency a lot morethan before.Head Teacher competency should have the management ability,professional quality,work sense of responsibility,including knowledge,ability,skills,motivation,etc.In this paper,on the basis of predecessors’ research,the selectionof dongguan city D junior high school as the research object,On the juniorhigh school head teacher competency has carried on the questionnairesurvey.The results of the survey is as follows:(1) The D junior secondaryschool head teacher’ competency as a whole is more positive.(2) As ajunior high school head teacher,also a subject of the teaching work,there are some differences between different subject teacher competencyscores.(3) There is great relevance between competency feature score andachievement motivation of teachers in charge of class in middle school,This indicates that the achievement motivation is an important elementaffecting the development of the head teacher.(4)The differences indifferent academic competency of head teachers are not obvious.Theteacher competence of undergraduate and graduate,is not significantlydifferent from head teacher’s competence with diploma,indicating thatthere is no great relevance between the junior high school teacher’slevel of competency and qualification level.(5)Different lengths of workexperience as a head teacher does not affect the level of teachercompetency.(6)There exists difference in gender among junior high schoolteachers of competency,the most obvious difference is the head teachersin the ninth grade,in the ninth grade class male teachers’ competencyscores are generally higher than the female head teacher competencyscore.Based on the analysis of the results of the investigation and study,puts forward the measures and suggestions to improve head teachercompetency.These Suggestions are mainly:(1)improve the ability of thejunior high school head teacher’s psychological counseling;(2)improvethe ability of the junior high school head teacher class management;(3)establish a scientific and reasonable mechanism of head teacherevaluation;(4)for the selection of the head teacher should take into account the specific situation;(5)to strengthen training on the headteacher of the not of the major subject.
