Abstract:As a important part of national science and technology innovation system, the improvement of university research teams’core capability strategy has already become an important arrangement of building national science and technology innovation system. How to enhance the core capability of the university research teams has practical significance for improving postgraduates’innovation capability, cultivating innovative talents for enterprises and research institutions, and improving the innovation level of our country. However, university research teams’core capability is influenced by many factors. Treating these factors positively helps to enhance its core capability; otherwise it will inhibit its performance. Previous studies are mainly focused on "influencing factors of team innovation capability", and are confined to studies with words or cases. Based on this, this paper attempts to investigate the influencing factors of research teams’core capability empirically, so as to reveal the inherent regularity of enhancing research teams’core capability, and then provide support for putting forward strategies which are conducive to enhancing the core capability of university research teams.In this paper, university research teams are taken as the object of study, and their core capability is divided into three dimensions:resource dimension, ability dimension, and cultural dimension. Based on literature review, the conceptual model of the influencing factors of university research teams’core capability is also proposed in this paper. This paper investigates the influencing factors of university research teams’core capability from five aspects:team leadership, team structure, level of collaboration, team operation, and environmental conditions. And it conducts SEM analysis through questionnaire survey of225universities in our country, and studies empirically the influence of the above five factors on each dimension of university research teams’core capability. The results are as follows:(1)The three factors, team leadership, team operation and environmental conditions, have significantly positive influence on university research teams’core capability, while the factors team structure and level of collaborationdon’t have a significant effect on it.(2) Specifically,in resource dimension, the three factors team leadership, team structure and team operation have significant influence on university research teams’core capability;in ability dimension, the three factors team leadership, environmental conditions and team operation have significantimpact on university research teams’core capability;in cultural dimension, the three factors team leadership, environmental conditions and team operation have significant positive effect on university research teams’core capability.(3) The two factors team leadership and environmental conditions also have impact on university research teams’core capability through the mediation of team operation, and different factors have differentiated mediate tranmission mechanism. The factor team leaders influence team creativity through part mediation of team operation, while environment conditions act as mediation absolutelty.
